Solid concrete core filling is critical to build retaining walls, basements, or garages that withstand enormous lateral wind or soil pressure:
Decide between Full Grouting (filling 100% of cores) or Partial Grouting (filling only specific cores containing vertical rebar).
Standard 8" blocks require 0.22 cu ft per unit. Thicker 12" blocks require 0.35 cu ft per unit (a 60% increase!).
If executing a partial grout, divide block counts by spacing parameters (e.g. 32" spacing fills 25% of the total cells).
Grouting involves high pressures. Always add a strict 10% waste buffer to cover mortar blowouts, spills, and base leakage.
Ordering a commercial concrete delivery truck is highly recommended for any volume exceeding 1.0 cubic yard.
Always run a mechanical concrete pencil vibrator down inside cores to consolidate grout and eliminate structural air pockets.
