100% Transparent Masonry Engineering

Built for Builders. Grounded in Real Engineering.

CBC Calc (Cinder Block Calculator) is an open-access construction calculation suite developed by the CBC Calc Engineering Desk to provide contractors, masons, architects, and homeowners with transparent, jobsite-tested material takeoffs.

Why CBC Calc Was Created

Most online block calculators use simplistic formulas: they multiply length by height, convert to square feet, and divide by the face area of a block. This approach ignores critical jobsite realities: 3/8-inch mortar bed joints, modular CMU sizing (7-5/8" actual vs 8" nominal), corner bond overlap, core-fill grout consolidation, and 10–12% cut waste.

The result? Builders either run short of blocks midway through a course or end up with expensive surplus pallets. CBC Calc was engineered to eliminate this guesswork by codifying real-world masonry formulas backed by ASTM International standards and NCMA technical specifications.

Standard Engineering Constants Used in CBC Calc

Every calculator across the CBC Calc suite runs on standardized, peer-verified physical constants:
